I started out my day by touring the area near the hotel. There is a huge roundabout nearby where 6 roads come together and Ifound some buildings with interesting architecture, In the center of the roundabout is a huge park and the trolley line runs right through the middle of it.
One of the structures I came across was Wieża Ciśnień (Water Tower) It is quite different and has a restaraunt inside.
Later in the afternoon I met up with my cousin Adam and took the bus to the Rynek (Marketplace), which is one of my two favorite Ryneks in Poland. It is only about 3.5 km, but too far too walk but with parking I was not going to take my car, so we took the bus. My other favorite Rynek is in Krakow. I have been here before two other times, but I still find it as interesting as my first visit. There are so many places to show you, but with time limitations I can only show you a few & will mostly post photos with a short description.
After taking a walk around Rynek, Adam took me to one of his favorite small restaraunts just outside of Rynek. The food is cheaper if you are not at one of the restaurants in Rynek and the food is just as fantastic. Yes, you will get another food photo!!! :D I decided to have a firied pork chop with frytki (french fries, and red cabbage salad with a beer to wash it all down. After eating something, Adam showed me some of the other sites I may want to take in the next day. Some of the places were already closed. The University has a wonderful library in a complex of VERY old buildings some of which date back to the 1500s and 1600s. I will take a look at them in more detail tomorrow. Just thnk, America had not even begun to be settle by Europeans yet and here are buildings and culture older than our country.
After we returned home, Adam and I each had to stop at the nearby store and pick up a few things. While there we met Ewalina and Hanna, Greg was busy at home preparing some food for catering the next day. I walked with Ewalina and Hanna until I got back to my hotel and got such a kick out of Hanna. Three year olds are so cute and Hanna was very polite! :D
I ended my day by getting to bed a little earlier than I had been. It feels like tonight will be one of the coolest since I arrived, although tomorrow will be just as hot as it has been.
Just a small observation I have made since I was in Poland last, is that more men are wearing beards than in the past. There has been a joke that the razor companies are worried about going out of business because of the new popularity with beards.
