Gingerbread (Pierniki) Museum in Toruń

DSC05533Gingerbread ready for the ovenToruń is famous around the world for its Pierniki (Gingerbread), and it would almost be a sin not to take advantage of this delicious treat by not buying some for yourself or to take home as souveniers & share with family and friends. I have had the opportunity to try many different types of this special treat & had the chance to go to the best Pierniki museum in Toruń today.

In the old days, gingerbread was highly prized & if you were a baker of gingerbread you had a high standing in the community.

Wooden molds were hand carved by artisans, who sadly never got much recognition for their skills, which were actually so important to the success in the creation of these beautifully molded treats.

The museum offers the opportunity to get some hands on experience and make your own gingerbread in one of their group classes.
