treegenealogymid
I had a discussion not long ago with a client and something came up that I thought all new genealogists should be aware of. I often see family trees posted online that 1) do not have any sources & 2) that have been copied from other family trees without sources. It is...

Sing Sing Prison 1932 John1a
When we think about our ancestry, we think that our family have been wonderful people throughout history, but never consider the bad. As a genealogist if we are to be successful in our research, we have to keep an open mind and it helps not to judge. I do not...

Using Indexes To Find Misspellings For Research

DSC00393a
Online documents are great, but if you don't know how the name was spelled, how can you search online? Online databases are indexed by human beings, not some magical force. People come from all number of countries and differences in their languages introduce spelling variations in official documents in addition to...

What is a Repertoire?

DSC09108
When we think of the word "Repertoire" we may normally think of a musical composition, but in French-Canadian genealogy this has another meaning. The English dictionary defines "repertoire" as a collection of works performed by an artist in his respective field. The English version of the word was taken from the...

Archives in Warsaw, Poland

dsc00586On the 9th of August I was walking around Warsaw with my cousin from Brwinow and I came across the most popular State Archive in Warsaw. This archive holds the oldest records. I had no plans for any genealogy research there that day, but I had to take a photo.

I had been in this area of Warsaw twice before, but failed to recognize it as one of the State archive buildings.
