I am leaving today for one month visit to Poland & Czech Republic to see family and take in the sites. I have tried to Blog before with poor results, but despite that I will again make an attempt to allow you to follow my adventures. Posts may be short with a photo or two, but it may be interesting non-the-less. I have discovered that it is difficult to Blog while traveling (unless that is your job) for two main reasons, time and Internet access. When you have a busy schedule it is almost impossible to find the time to Blog.

I will leave this evening and be met at the Krakow airport by my cousin Łukasz and his family. It will be an interesting visit as the weather is forecast to be unusually hot. The temps may get to over 100 F, which will be breaking records in Poland. We may have to make changes from the original plans to work around the oppressive heat.
I have been doing genealogy research since 2002 & have worked full time as a Professional Genealogist since 2008. I specialize in Polish and American-Canadian Genealogy. As a member of APG, I was the 2010/2011 President of the New England Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (NEAPG). I have Certificates of Completion for studies in "Foundations of Forensic Genealogy" and "Advanced Forensic Genealogy Techniques". I have been a volunteer librarian at the local Family History Center, and a genealogy research consultant at “Ask the Expert” Ancestry Road Shows. I have traveled to Poland numerous times & researched in churches and archives. At conferences and special events, you may find me dressed up in my Sherlock Holmes outfit, or my Kujawy (the folk costume from the region in Poland where my ancestors came from).
I heartily encourage you to write something every day on your trip, you will be thankful in the end. I blogged and wrote (and took 10,000 pictures) on my two trips to Poland. I still re-read my words over and over again, to recall all that i did and saw. And while i was there, my family and friends were able to "see" my adventures through my words. Even if only a few short sentences, a summary, write it down, especially what's important. You'll be filled with so much that it will start to run together in your head--write it down. I look forward to following your journey and living in Poland through your blog....
