I will be speaking at the Annual Seminar for the
Polish Genealogical Society of Michiganat the
American Polish Cultural Center in Troy, MI, October 15th! I will be giving two presentations:
"Finding the Family: Problems, Successes and Rewards" - This presentation will explore researching for family from Poland explaining the process used to locate over 3000 relatives from my family, that are now scattered in over 26 countries around the world. Together we will discover the problems, successes and rewards of finding the family through the examples from my research. You will have to learn to deal with records in other languages & learn about the history of Poland. If older relatives came from the area under Russian control in the 19th century, Julian & Gregorian dates are sure to be encountered. You can take every problem you encounter and turn it into a success. Every success of finding a relative brings you one step closer to assemble that jigsaw puzzle called family. The results of your intensive research are sure to be rewarded. Finally meeting your relatives will be the highlight of your life. In my example I will discuss how I was able to meet a huge number of people in my family in Poland, which received a lot of media attention, and help
solve some Polish historical mysteries.
"Researching in Poland: Problems and Successes" - I will take you on a journey through southern Poland while researching in Archives, cemeteries, town offices, & churches all while viewing stunning photos of Poland. Follow in my footsteps researching in Poland and learn some problems, successes, dos & don'ts. You will learn some of the problems encountered and successes I had. I hope this presentation will inspire you to personally take on the challenge to research your family and/or discover living relatives in Poland.
