Town Hall in the Market SquareAlthough I have been to Tarnów before, I had not toured the city. Five years ago, I had some client research that needed to be
done in the Diocesan Archives & there was no time for seeing the sights. This year, I wanted to take the time to see what Tarnów had to offer for the visitor.
Gosia and I found the nearest tourist information office to pick up some info so we could see what was available. Due to time constraints, we kept near the Rynek.
There are a variety of monuments and items of interest near Rynek, so you only have a short walk around the area. Of course the Diocesan Archives are nearby near the Cathedral Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
After the tour, we met up with my friend Aleksandra for a short time, as she arrived in town for some genealogy research & we took a walk down by the Dunajec River before driving back to Kraków.
I have been doing genealogy research since 2002 & have worked full time as a Professional Genealogist since 2008. I specialize in Polish and American-Canadian Genealogy. As a member of APG, I was the 2010/2011 President of the New England Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (NEAPG). I have Certificates of Completion for studies in "Foundations of Forensic Genealogy" and "Advanced Forensic Genealogy Techniques". I have been a volunteer librarian at the local Family History Center, and a genealogy research consultant at “Ask the Expert” Ancestry Road Shows. I have traveled to Poland numerous times & researched in churches and archives. At conferences and special events, you may find me dressed up in my Sherlock Holmes outfit, or my Kujawy (the folk costume from the region in Poland where my ancestors came from).
